Kate Williams

Kate Williams, age 34, of New Rockford, ND, died Friday, April 17, 2015, at her home, with her family surrounding her with love.

Marion Kate McHaney was born May 29, 1980, in Carson City, Nevada.  Kate was the daughter of Robert and Sandy (Bondy) McHaney.  Robert being a Deep Sea Diver for the Navy moved around the country where Kate was able to experience all of America, and different cultures, which eventually lead them to live in Oregon.  In 2001, Kate met Joshua Gene Williams at Grants Pass, Oregon in a little restaurant where they had both worked as cooks.  After falling madly in love, they were engaged to be married after two weeks.  Kate  and Joshua were married on December 21, 2002, in Reno, NV, where they started a family, and had three boys named Caden, Jonny and Jude.  Kate went to college at the University of Reno, 2006, where she found the calling to be a teacher, and graduated 2011.  She was recruited at the University by the Superintendent of Four Winds Elementary, FT. Totten, ND, who was impressed by watching her teach hands-on at the University’s middle school program.  In 2012, Kate and Josh and their boys moved to Devils Lake, ND, to begin teaching 5th grade at Four Winds Elementary.  After attending an Annual Wine Tasting event in New Rockford, they felt like they had finally found Home, and soon moved there.  In September of 2013, Kate was diagnosed with Stage 4 stomach cancer.  After a successful surgery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, Kate was pronounced free of cancer and able to return to teaching while still undergoing Chemotherapy biweekly.  She was again diagnosed with cancer April 1, 2015.

Kate is survived by her husband Josh, and their three sons Caden, Jonny and Jude, all at home, New Rockford; her parents Robert and Sandy McHaney, Reno, NV; two brothers Steve (Heather) McHaney, stationed at the US Navy Base, Guam, Sean McHaney, Reno; three uncles Mike McHaney, Bill McHaney and Ralph Bondy; two aunts Leigh Guy and Colette Conquergood.
