Alice Wolsky

Alice M. Wolsky, age 101, of Kensal, ND, died Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Eventide, Jamestown, ND.

Alice Margareta Schroeder was born March 24, 1916, in Bordulac, ND, the daughter of William and Freda (Grager) Schroeder. She grew up and attended school in Bordulac, graduating in 1933. Alice was baptized and confirmed in St. John’s Lutheran Church, rural Bordulac.

She was united in marriage to Edward Wolsky of Kensal on June 9, 1940, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Bordulac. Together they had various professions, which included farming and owning a garage, and they also went into the T.V. repair business for many years. Alice worked in various stores, motels, and did daycare. Alice and Edward were managers of the Kensal Manor for 20 years. Edward died October 12, 2000.

Alice was a charter member of the LWML and held many offices. She was also a Sunday School superintendent, teaching Sunday school for 30 years. She also served as secretary of the Kensal Parish and Kensal-Wimbledon area parishes for many years. She was a charter member of Kensal Kozy KS Homemakers.  Alice was the Secretary and Treasurer of the Kensal Park Board for 27 years.

She is survived by her three daughters: Jo Ann Larson, Valley City, ND, Mell’O’Dee (A.C.) Gaber, Cass Lake, MN, and Patricia (Gary) Sorem, Olympia, WA; 6 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and special family friends, Nick (Betty) Kukla.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, her parents, 2 sisters, Lillian Wolsky and Ella Groskreutz, 1 brother, Harold Schroeder, and 1 great-grandson, Kullen Hoggarth.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be designated to

James River Hospice or the Charity of your choice.
