Ervin Milton Zimmer

Ervin M. Zimmer, age 76, of Carrington, ND, peacefully went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, October 4, 2015, at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck, ND, while his brother, Mel, sang to him in German.

Ervin Milton Zimmer was born April 4, 1939, in Kidder County, to Phillip and Otellia (Hust) Zimmer.  He later joined the ND Army National Guard serving from August 12, 1957 to August 11, 1960.

On February 23, 1958, Ervin married the love of his life, Darlene Meidinger.  They would have celebrated a long life shared together this upcoming February marking their 58th Wedding Anniversary. Ervin and Darlene were blessed with three sons, Kevin, Kelvin, and Monty, while building their life together.  He was committed to his family and wore many hats as the provider, which included being a farm hand, custodian, and propane dealer.

Ervin had a passion for hunting, fishing, stock car racing, and wood working.  However, time spent with family was the most important and the most treasured for him.  Ervin enjoyed and often shared the art of crafting wood into something cherished for family and friends.  With care and precision he created bird houses, yard figurines, decorations for the home and for Christmas.

Ervin is survived by the love of his life, Darlene; three sons, Kevin (Terri), Bismarck, Kelvin (Bonny), Bismarck, and Monty (Stacy), Oakes, ND; four grandsons, Parker Zimmer, Brye Zimmer, Craig (Sandy) Zimmer, and Jonathan  Zimmer; brother-in-law, Don (Judy) Meidinger; sister-in-law, Marlys Klundt; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Phillip and Otellia Zimmer; his brother, Marvin; sister-in-law, Carole; brother-in-law, Kenneth Klundt, and a baby sister, Violet.
