Henry Ingwaldson

Henry “Hank� Ingwaldson, age 86, of New Rockford, ND, died Wednesday, January 7, 2009, at his daughter’s home in New Rockford.

Henry Julius Ingwaldson was born on March 8, 1922, on a farm near Cathay, ND, the son of Harold and Jennie (Gedrose) Ingwaldson. He was baptized at Stavanger Lutheran Church near Cathay, ND in 1922. At the age of 8, he and his family moved to New Rockford, ND, where he attended school and graduated in 1942.

Hank married the love of his life, Verna Jasman, at New Rockford, ND, on October 12, 1942. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and left a month after they were married. The day he landed in France, October 20, 1944, his son Gary was born. After his honorable discharge from the Army he worked at the New Rockford Creamery, the Variety Store, and Sweetheart Bread Company. He worked for Border States Paving Co. as a roller operator until his retirement.

He was a member of First Lutheran Church, New Rockford. He was also a member of the Raymond B. Thorn American Legion Post #30, Sheyenne VFW, and New Rockford Eagles Aerie. Hank was an avid sports fan and he loved the Minnesota Twins and MinnesotaVikings. He was lucky enough to make it to a Twins game with grandsons TJ and David. This last September he also got to go to one of his great grandson’s, Michael Allmaras, football game at NDSCS.

Hank is survived by his son, Gary (Darlene) Ingwaldson, New Rockford; his daughter, Sandy (Terry) Koepplin, New Rockford; one brother, Edwin (Barb) Ingwaldson, Laurel, MT; six grandchildren, Melony (David) Allmaras, Gina (Tony) Clifton, Brooke McBain, all of New Rockford, ND, TJ (Heidi) Koepplin, Lynn (Jorin) Johnson, and Jeff Ingwaldson, all of Fargo, ND; ten great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Vivian (Ervin) Longnecker, New Rockford, ND; and his beloved cat, Trix.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Verna; his parents, Harold and Jenny Ingwaldson; one sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Dave Anderson; one brother, Melvin Ingwaldson; one brother-in-law, Larry Jasman.
