Robert Heinley
Robert C. Heinley, with grace from God, passed from this world on Friday, January 2, 2009, in Carrington, ND. He was 80 years old.
Robert C. Heinley, known as RC, was born to Robert and Jessie (Connolly) Heinley in Milwaukee, WI, on May 24, 1928. He was raised on a farm near Lawton, ND and graduated from Edmore High. He obtained his Bachelors Degree from the University of North Dakota (UND) in 1950. Robert was married to Beverly Nash on August 19, 1950, in Buxton, ND. They had enjoyed a 57 year marriage when she passed on March 17, 2008. He entered the US Army in 1951. He saw combat and served with pride and honor in the Korean War as a Sergeant in the 45th Infantry Division. Returning to UND, he obtained a law degree in 1956. He established his law practice in Carrington in 1966, partnered first with William Kunkle and later, Thomas Aljets. He retired in 2003 at 75 years of age. Robert was a member of the Federated Church, John Raymond O’Hara Post #25 American Legion and was a Past Commander of the McCreary-Bonderud VFW Post #3524 of Carrington. He was a 32nd degree Mason and served on various state judicial and legal committees. He enjoyed collecting and tinkering with old cars and tractors. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his four sons, Rob (Joan) Heinley, Chaska, MN, Bevin Heinley, Fargo, ND, Tim (Tammy) Heinley, East Grand Forks, MN, Wes (Jamie) Heinley, Carrington, ND; two grandsons, Robert Cole Heinley and Clay Matthew Heinley, both Carrington, ND; two sisters, Pat Arneson, Ventura, CA and Joyce Kavanaugh, Devils Lake, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beverly; one sister, Jane.
