Iola Rask

Iola Caroline Neumiller (Rask), beloved Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and Friend, was called home to the loving arms of our heavenly father on October 31, 2025, at Golden Acres Manor, Carrington, ND.

Iola was born on September 3, 1931, in Heaton, ND. She was the 14th child of John and Elizabeth Neumiller’s 17 children and the 8th daughter. She was very proud of her family.

Iola met her husband, Daryl Dean Rask, in Fessenden, ND, during a high school basketball game that he was playing in. Every time he made a pass in the game, he looked her way, and she was always smiling; it was love at first sight. They were married on June 15, 1952; their love story lasted for 73 years. They are the true definition of eternal love, for better or worse, for over 73 years. They adopted two children, Colleen Kaye Rask and Bruce John Rask. Daryl’s day job took the family all over the country, living in Huron, SD, Sioux Falls, SD, Mandan, ND, Fargo, ND, and Lawrence, KS.  Mom had a choice where she’d like to spend their retirement. At first, they both agreed on Sioux Falls, SD, but as time grew closer, she wanted to come back to North Dakota and be around her remaining family. They moved to Carrington in 1993, where dad still remains in their home.

Iola is the last sibling in the family at age 94; she joins her 16 brothers and sisters. Family reunions on this earth were full of love, laughter, and family; their reunion in heaven will be beyond anything we experienced here on earth. The Neumiller family is once again reunited with endless time and conversations, with no more goodbyes.

She is survived by her loving husband, Daryl; her daughter, Colleen Rask; her son, Bruce; 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Our family wishes to extend a special thank you to Golden Acres Manor. The whole staff became a second family over her last five years. In Iola’s final weeks, HIA Hospice came on board to add that extra love, care, and support to her and her family. Our heartfelt thanks to everyone involved with Iola, especially Teresa (CNA), Stephanie (Social Worker), Dave (Chaplain), Amber, Cassie, and Tonia (Nursing Staff). You all are sincerely dedicated to providing comfort and care throughout life’s journey. You are HEARTS IN ACTION….GOD BLESS.

Iola’s Visitation will be Tuesday, November 4, 2025, from 9:30-10:30AM followed by a Funeral Service at 10:30AM all at Evans Funeral Home, Carrington.

Her Burial will be at the Carrington Cemetery.
