Marjorie Anderson
Marjorie (Cudworth) Anderson, age 92, died on June 15, 2025, at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford, ND. She was born on May 3, 1933, in Pleasant Prairie Township, Eddy County. The oldest of five children, she was raised on the family farm by her parents, Clair and Leone (Williams) Cudworth. She received her elementary education at rural schools and graduated from Sheyenne High School in 1950. She attended Valley City State Teachers College and taught in the Sheldon Township rural school for three years.
On November 27, 1954, she married Joseph (Joe) Anderson at Jamestown, ND. They farmed together and raised four children 10 miles east of New Rockford. When their sons took over the farming operation, she remained actively involved, assisting in many ways, until she retired to New Rockford in 2018.
She found joy in tending to her flower and vegetable gardens and preserving the harvest through canning. Her dill pickles became a well-loved favorite among family and friends. Always thoughtful and generous, she gathered bouquets of fresh flowers to deliver to others, simply to brighten their day. For those who lived farther away, she was known to send beautifully handwritten letters.
Principles she both modeled and encouraged were kindness, generosity, and work ethic. The devoted and loving care she extended to her mother-in-law and mother in their later years was exemplary.
She was an active member of Kvernes Lutheran Church and served many years as Treasurer. She also served on the Eagles Auxiliary, Lutheran Home Homettes Auxiliary, Pleasant Prairie Township Board, Farmers Home Administration, and the Community Credit Union Supervisory Committee. She gave of herself in many volunteer efforts over the years.
Left to mourn her passing are her four children: Shelley (Kent) Rigsby of Jamestown; Gary (Kathy) Anderson of New Rockford; Patti (Peter) Larson of Sheyenne; and David (Karen) Anderson of New Rockford. Nine grandchildren: Sherena (Dustin) Jeske, Plymouth, MN; Laura (Ryan) Hager, New Rockford; Kenny (Sarah) Anderson, Fargo; Shantell (Cory) Holen, Mapleton; Andrew Anderson, Foster City, CA; Amber (Mitch) Sylling, Devils Lake; Joanna Larson, Sheyenne; Eric Anderson, Bismarck; and Sandra Larson, Plymouth, MN. Twelve great-grandchildren: Amaya and Norah Jeske; Josslyn, Jakoby, Damian, Owen, Jameson, and Keaton Hager; Kason and Brooks Holen; and Weston and Boden Sylling. Three siblings: Glenn (Judy) Cudworth, New Rockford; Marlys (Merle) Hanson, Yucca Valley, CA; and Douglas Cudworth, Sheyenne. One sister-in-law: Becky Cudworth, Bismarck, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband of nearly 60 years, Joe, her parents, grandparents, and brother Clair William (Bill) Cudworth.
Marjorie (Marge) was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, neighbor, and friend. She will be dearly missed.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:21
Marge’s Visitation will be Wednesday, June 18, 2025 from 1:00PM-4:30PM at Evans Funeral Home in New Rockford, and from 6:00PM – 7:00PM followed by a Prayer Service at 7:00PM all at Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd Chapel, 1226 1st Ave N, New Rockford.

What a wonderful lady Margie was. My condolences to the family and God bless.
Always so kind to me.
What a wonderfully kind, talented, energetic lady! I have fond memories of your mom back in the day when we were neighbors and her continued friendship to my mom through the years. She wrote my mom terrific letters during mom’s stay with Lisa and I in Dallas! I know Marge’s beautiful legacy lives on in each of her children! Thinking of you all.
Sincerely,
Connie (Vetter) Wentz
We would like to extend our sympathy to the Anderson family. Marge was a faithful servant of God. She did so much for Kvernes Lutheran Church. Many of it was behind the scenes and she was always ready to help out. Whenever our family was going through some tough times, a card or letter of encouragement would come in the mail. That was Marge, always thinking of others. She will be missed.
sorry for the loss of your wonderful mother
I just received a beautiful get well card from Margie in her beautiful handwriting. I always looked forward to her birthday and Christmas notes. So newsy. At our annual 4 th of July picnics at the park, her June berry pie was always a hit. She was always to me a loving kind giving friend. Margie you will truly be missed by many.
Laura and family my heart goes out to you. I know her legacy will live on for many years to come.

The world will miss this beautiful soul… she always lit up the room. I got to know her when she brought the Brantford history book into the Independent to be published. She came in with a smile, a hug and goodies! I’ll never forget her. So very sorry for your loss.

My condolences to Shelly, Gary, Patti, David.
Your mother exuded love, it spilled out everywhere, there was a sense of peace about her. So kind, beautiful, positive, encouraging, I could go on. It’s clear that she walked in obedience to God’s will. I am blessed to have truly met an earth angel.
I first met Marjorie Cudworth when I was five years old starting 1st grade at Sheldon #1 country school I was lucky enough to have her as my 1st and 2nd grade teacher.
My mother was a huge fan of hers and I was too then and remain so today.
I enjoyed her letters so much. They were always full of news of her family and happenings in and around New Rockford.
I will miss her greatly. My sympathy to her family for their loss

Sending love and hugs. My heart goes out to you. She was such a wonderful person and I always enjoyed talking with her. May her memory be a blessing.
So many people here saying all of the things that I also experienced. There was just something so special about how she treated everyone — as though each was the most important person alive. She was beautiful inside and out. Terry and I would like to express our sympathy to Patti Jo and her family, Shelly and hers, as well as those family members we didn’t know.
