Arlene Brandt

Arlene Donna Posey Brandt passed away peacefully on Friday, November 21, 2025, at Golden Acres Manor in Carrington, North Dakota. She was born on June 23, 1932, on a farm located east of Carrington to her parents, Dave and Georgina (Nevland) Posey. Arlene spent her childhood years on a farm near the James River Church along Highway 200. Many important milestones in her life took place at James River Church, including her baptism, her confirmation, and her marriage to Ellis Brandt on October 07, 1951.

After marrying Ellis Brandt, Arlene and Ellis began their married life farming between Grace City and McHenry. In 1958, they made Carrington their home, where Ellis found employment with Dakota Central Telephone.

Arlene cherished the time spent with her family, and she and Ellis were often present at their grandchildren’s events. Road trips with their camper and spending time at Juanita Lake were enjoyable activities while raising children and later in life, creating lasting memories.

Arlene’s love for children was evident in her commitment to providing daycare in her home for several families. Over the years, she built and maintained close relationships with many of these children. Before retiring, she was employed as a cook at the local grade school.

Among Arlene’s greatest passions were quilting and embroidery. She embroidered dishtowels for her children and grandchildren. Each grandchild received a specially made quilt at birth, and a larger one as they grew older. Arlene created jean quilts for them as well, ensuring that each family member had a unique keepsake made with care.

Arlene was a devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She was actively involved in Bible studies, participated in quilting groups, and made prayer shawls for those in need. Her dedication extended to serving at various church activities, where she could often be found working in the kitchen.

She is survived by her five children, Renee (Kevin) Klein, Carrington, Marlin (Mary) Brandt, Mandan, Avis (Dwayne) Richter, Valley City, Rita Brandt, Valley City and Rodney (Jan) Brandt, Jamestown; 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother Gene Posey, sisters Dorothy Wright, Alice Scanson and Erma Scanson and grandson Aaron Klein.

Arlene’s Visitation will be Wednesday, November 26, 2025, from 9:30AM-10:30AM followed by a Funeral Service at 10:30AM all at Trinity Lutheran Church, Carrington.

Her Burial will be at the Carrington Cemetery.

  3. My deepest sympathies for the loss of your mother. During the 7 years Ellis was at Golden Acres Manor, I saw the meaning of “till death us do part”. Every time I was there to visit my sister, Arlene was there, faithfully visiting and helping Ellis most often at mealtime was when I saw her. She was a lovely lady and we would have brief conversations. You were blessed with Arlene. Hold the memories close, speak often of those memories and know that she is at peace, with Ellis and her Heavenly Father. Rest in Peace.
