LaDonna Hatch
LaDonna Kay Hatch, age 78, of Sykeston, ND, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 16, 2025, due to complications from injuries from a car accident on June 13, 2025. She was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her passing.
LaDonna was the second child of six born to Sherman and Merljean Montgomery on June 3, 1947. She attended country school through the 8th grade and then attended high school and graduated from Carrington High School in 1965. She attended business school at Aaker’s Business College in 1966.
She met her loving husband, Richard, at a dance at Rainbow Gardens in August of 1965. They were happily married on November 2, 1968, and were blessed with four children. After various moves for employment and family, LaDonna and Richard found their perfect place to live and raise their family in Cannon Beach, Oregon. They lived there from 1981 until 1997, when Richard retired and they returned to North Dakota. While living in Oregon, LaDonna worked as a retail clerk while the kids were in school. She was instrumental in organizing the Christmas Basket Program through the Cannon Beach American Legion for families in need. That program is still going to this day to help those who need a little help. She attended all of her children’s activities and even a few that their friends were involved in. Every one of the kids’ friends and even a few interns with the Cannon Beach Police Dept. knew her as “Mom”. She was the biggest cheerleader to have in your corner. She was the first to support anyone who needed it, especially her kids.
After returning to North Dakota, she became involved in the community as much as possible. She started working at 4th Corp. in 2002 and worked with them until she retired in 2012. She filled her time by crocheting afghans and blankets for the Sanford Children’s Hospital in Fargo and the Veterans at the V.A. Hospital. She also made gloves, caps, and scarves for kids and adults who needed them.
LaDonna was preceded in death by her parents; brother Jerry; sister Vicki Sommer; sisters-in-law, Sandra Olson and LaVerna Andress; brothers-in-law, Gary Andress and Orville Hatch Jr.; father and mother-in-law, Orville Hatch Sr. and Irene Hatch; and granddaughter Monica Hatch.
She is survived by her husband, Richard; their children, Krista Taylor, Kim Hatch (Christa), Karen Hatch, and Karla Collins; grandchildren, Samantha Taylor Lee (Damarvis) and her children, Marley Taylor, Zemirah Lee, and Jasper Lee, Sabrina Taylor and her children, Zoey Taylor, Isabelle Aughenbaugh, Cody Hatch and his daughter Raelynn, Shai-Anne Hatch-Collins and her children Evelyn Lutman, Elijah Matejka, Jennifer Joyce, Isaiah Hatch-Collins and his son Zayn Collins, Cameron Hatch-Collins, and Morgan Hatch; brothers, Mitch Montgomery (Judy) and Kelly Montgomery (Ginny); sister Janell Anderson (Ed); sisters-in-law, Linda Peavey and Sharon Brown (Bill); brother-in-law Robert Olson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
LaDonna’s Prayer Service will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 6:00PM at Evans Funeral Home, Carrington, ND.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 10:00AM at the Federated Church UCC/UMC, Carrington, ND.
Her Burial will be at Melville Cemetery, Melville, ND.

Rich and family, my condolences to you and your family. Our class of 65 just got a little bit smaller. Remember all the wonderful memories you guys shared through the years, they will help you through this difficult time. Prayers to all.
My family. I love you guys so much. She was an amazing woman that always made me laugh. I remember going to her house and having to make breakfast and she said “you know the rules”. I will never forget the memories we made together. ❤️ holding my blanket she made me a little tighter tonight
Ed and Janell our family sends prayers and hugs. Please tell the family we are so sorry for their loss 🙏
My love and prayers to all the family. Ladonna will always have a special place in my heart. It meant so much to me how much she and her daughter Karen helped me to deliver baby angel gowns to hospital NICUs in Fargo. Ladonna’s crocheting was the most beautiful I have ever seen. Rest in peace dear friend❤️🙏. Jeanie Wild White
Our sincere condolences.
I am so sorry for the loss of a great mom, grandmother, wife, and sibling. My heart goes out to you all through this difficult time.
When I was in first grade, I had a teacher by the name of Carol Hatch. She stayed at our house and took me home with her for Easter. I am now in my late 80’s, so I am sure she must be gone by now. I remember she had a brother named Orville.
Our deepest sympathies at your loss…always the woman who was thinking of someone else’s needs. I enjoyed working with her. She was the best…you could always rely on LaDonna. May her memories bring you comfort .
Sorry for your loss, no one can replace her.
I’m so sorry to hear about the death of Ladonna. She was such a sweet lady and she will be missed.
My heartfelt condolences from me and my family, my mom Virginia Stetz, my brother Jason Stetz and his family. I had the privilege of meeting La Donna and her husband through Karla, Shai-Ann, Isaiah, and Cameron, who worked with me. What an incredible, vibrant, and compassionate family! They always made time to stop, share a smile, and connect. My entire family extends love, hugs, and prayers to all of you! May you find strength in cherished memories, knowing that La Donna’s legacy lives on through each of you. Stay strong and keep shining!
