Michelle Krefting
Michelle Lynn Krefting, affectionately known as Michelle, was a radiant beacon of love and compassion who left this world on April 5, 2025. Born on May 5, 1964, in Carrington, North Dakota, she was the cherished daughter of Wesley and Patricia Miller. Growing up in Carrington, Michelle’s journey was marked by her vibrant spirit and unwavering kindness, qualities that endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A proud graduate of Carrington High School in 1982, Michelle continued to pursue her passion for caring for others by earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Minot State University in 1986. Her professional journey culminated in a fulfilling 17-year tenure with the Dallas Independent School District, where her dedication and compassion touched countless lives. Her presence was a source of comfort and inspiration, and her charming wit cast a warm glow in every room she entered, brightening even the darkest moments.
Beyond her remarkable career, Michelle’s zest for life was evident in her many pursuits. She was an enthusiastic collector of Kewpie dolls, a lover of the excitement found at horse races at Lone Star Park, and a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys. The words of Maya Angelou resonate deeply when we think of Michelle: “My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” This sentiment beautifully encapsulated the essence of Michelle’s vibrant spirit.
Her love extended beyond her family to her beloved dogs, Macee, Buddy, and the late Hershey, who passed away three years ago. Michelle found immense joy in their companionship, prioritizing their happiness and well-being with the same dedication she offered to everyone around her.
Family was the cornerstone of Michelle’s life. Her nurturing nature was evident in the love and devotion she showed to her husband, Jimmy Laws, and her four cherished children: Kahlor of Mandan, ND; Casey of Minneapolis, MN; Tanner of Bismarck, ND; and Tyler of Bismarck, ND. She is also survived by her father, Wes Miller of Carrington, ND, and her two brothers, Mike Miller of Carrington, ND, and Tim Miller of Valley City, ND. Michelle was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Patricia “Patty” Miller.
In remembering Michelle, we celebrate a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support for her family and friends. Her legacy will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew her, a testament to the beautiful impact she made in this world.
Michelle’s Visitation will take place on Friday, April 25, 2025 from 12:00PM-1:00PM followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00PM all at Evans Funeral Home, Carrington, ND.

Michelle will be missed by all those who love her. She lived her life for others, in particular, her boys. She loved them beyond measure. May she rest in peace.
I have very fond memories of Michelle as a fun loving child in Carrington. Then we lost touch for years and we were re-acquainted when she planned a special birthday party for her father (and my brother), Wes. She brought her deep love and caring along and we had a wonderful time refreshing our relationship. I am sad that she left this life far too young and she will be missed
