Charles “Chuck” Novotny
Charles Ronald Novotny, 46, of Sheyenne, ND, went to be with the Lord on August 21, 2025 with his friends and family by his side at his home.
Charles was born on December 31, 1978 is McKeesport, PA. He is the oldest born to Sharon Marie Novotny. He grew up in Clairton, PA with his mother, nanny and pappy and younger sister, Margaret. Chuck loved to camp and was an Eagle Scout. He attended school in Clairton and graduated from Clairton high school in 1997. He graduated from Pittsburgh Technical Institute with an Associates in CAD.
On June 12, 2024, Chuck married Ashley Perleberg in Vegas. They were together for over 10 years building a life, home and dreams together. Chuck worked for Greg Seidel doing construction and carpentry, which he had so much passion in. He worked with Greg for over 10 years, who became like a father to him. Then he started his own business, Chuck Novotny Construction in 2020. He was so proud of his work and had such love and care to everyone he did work for. He always had to have a conversation with anyone he knew for hours, he could talk all day.
Chuck and Ashley lived together in Sheyenne, ND, with their fur babies, Bentley (12), and Bonnie (7), who was a daddy’s girl and was so loved by him. That was his girl, she stole his heart and had him wrapped around her paws. Bonnie was very sick and he took extra special care of her, with so much love. He took her on rides with Grateful Dead music and plenty of treats and trips to McDonald’s. Bonnie passed away in April of 2024 to seizures. It was one of the hardest things for Chuck. They then got another fur baby, Ruby (1), who he absolutely adored. He showered her and Bentley with love and rides with Grateful Dead and trips to McDonald’s. They went for lots of rides. They also got 2 cats, Button’s and Bootsie, he said they were a pain but he truly did love them. Chuck was always running late and could never find his wallet, keys, phone and tools daily. He would always say, “Ashley, help me find this!” and she’d say, “It’s right here Chuck!” and he’d reply, “I couldn’t find my head if it wasn’t attached, I gotta go, I love you so much!” He always made sure Ashley knew she was loved and taken care of. His family was his #1 priority. He was loyal and generous to everyone who loved him. He was very protective of his family and friends. Chuck loved the outdoors, was a great swimmer and loved adventure. He could do anything he tried and he did everything he said he would. He was selfless and would give you the shirt off his back and the shoes on his feet. He admired his nanny and pappy. Nanny would come to ND from PA in the summertime to see Chuck and Ashley. She was showered with love and anything she needed to make his favorite childhood meals: meat pies, cabbage rolls, tomato Velveeta soup and many more meals.
Chuck is remembered and severely missed by so many people; wife, Ashley Novotny and fur kids, Bentley, Ruby, Buttons and Bootsie, Sheyenne, ND; sister, Margaret Novotny and nephew, Charley Campbell, Clairton, PA; uncle, Rob (Jennifer) Novotny, PA; cousin, Anthony Novotny; father and mother-in-law, Kelly and Kathy Perleberg; brother-in-law, Eric (Brittany) Perleberg & their children, Easton, Everly and Elena, New Rockford, ND and so many friends and family back home and in ND. He will be deeply missed by his crew and families: Derris Jackson & Mindy Burdick and their little ones, Kenshin, Khalesi, and 2 God children, Kendrix and Kael; Joe and Angela Garcia, and their children, Kyle, Amber, Eva, Danny and Brandon and their grandson, Ryett; Kenyon Longie and family; Josh Dahm and family and Danny & Eva Garcia.
He is preceded in death by his nanny, Barbara Novotny & pappy, Ronald Novotny; mother, Sharon Novotny and fur baby, Bonnie.
Chuck’s Visitation will be date Wednesday, September 3, 2025 from 5:00PM – 6:00PM followed by a Celebration of Life at 6:00PM at Open Season Lodge (old Sheyenne School), Sheyenne, ND.

So sorry for your loss. Chuck was a character! He did love to talk & was happy when we saw him. He was so happy after your wedding! too young, too soon, so sad.
Chucky was a good friend to Daryl Bergrud and family, he was such a good person, He called Angel after the passing of her son Tyler in July 2024, that meant a lot to her, every time we made it back to ND. Chucky was there to spend time with us, he was the best, funny, caring, and all around a good person. Daryl has many memories with him. We love you Chucky! R.I.P love, Daryl, Angel, Jill, Tommy boy and family ❤️
So sorry for your loss Ashley
I’m so sorry for your loss.
Chuck was a really great person. I had Chuck and his crew to put on a new roof on my father’s house. He did a fantastic job . He was so polite and he even fixed the chimney just because and didn’t charge for that.
Again. I am deeply sorry for you loss. May he rest in the arms of Jesus.
Ashley, my name is George Slavick we have never met but I was Chucks Boy Scout master in Clairton PA and his grand parents Barb, Ron and his mom Sharon were real close friends with my wife Rose and I. Chuck was my 1st Eagle scout and a real good person. He would help anyone who needed help and spoke to anyone he met. Chuck loved going camping and fishing. He was real close with his mom Sharon sister Margret and grandmother Barb and grandfather Ron and his uncle Rob. Chucks uncle Rob is who let me know of his passing. Chuck now is in heaven with God his mom, grandma and grandpa and I am sure he is looking down on you and will continue watching over you. You have my deepest condolences.
