Larry Quesenberry

Larry Quesenberry, age 92, of Carrington, North Dakota, passed away peacefully on the morning of May 8, 2025, with his children by his side at Golden Acres Manor.

Larry was born on May 18, 1932, in Carrington to Sheldon and Ila (Stambaugh) Quesenberry. He grew up in Carrington, graduating from Carrington High School in 1950. After graduation, he began farming alongside his father and grandfather, Jesse Stambaugh.   In 1988, his son James joined the family farming operation.

In 1956, Larry was drafted into the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1958.

On February 1, 1969, Larry married Doris Straley at Trinity Lutheran Church in Carrington. Together, they made their home in Carrington and raised their two children, James and Nancy. Doris passed away in July of 1983.

In 1998, Larry married Jennie Moriarty, they later divorced, remaining friends.

Larry lived a full and active life. He cherished time spent with family—especially his granddaughter, Lauren.  He also enjoyed traveling, flying planes, and numerous hunting trips with friends in earlier years.   One of his favorite accomplishments was building a single-passenger bi-plane in his shop with his friend, James Skadberg.

Larry enjoyed the challenge of designing and constructing machine modifications for various projects throughout the years, always looking for a way to make the job easier.  He also liked visiting with friends, always ready with a joke or story.  Larry will be remembered for his love of animals, especially his many pet cats throughout the years. His cat Ned was a frequent visitor at the nursing home.

Larry is survived by his son, James; daughter, Nancy; son-in-law, Bret Beach; granddaughter, Lauren Beach; and sister-in-law, Marie Straley.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris; his parents, Sheldon and Ila; his brother, Garry; his aunt and uncle, Ruby and Chet Roberts; uncle, Oscar Quesenberry; grandparents; in-laws, Ben and Iona Straley; and brother-in-law, Keith Straley.

The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff of Golden Acres Manor for the care and kindness shown.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Carrington Cemetery Association.

Larry’s Visitation will be Monday, May 19, 2025, from 9:30AM-10:30AM followed by a Funeral Service at 10:30AM all at Evans Funeral Home, Carrington.

His Burial will be at the Carrington Cemetery.
