Kenneth Baker

Kenneth (Kenny) Wayne Baker, Sr., 58, of St. Michael, ND passed away on May 19, 2022 at CHI St. Alexius Hospital in Devils Lake.

Kenneth Wayne Baker, Sr. was born January 17, 1964 in Devils Lake, ND to Marie (Jetty) Baker and Donald “Tiny” Fassett. He grew up in St. Michael his whole life. He attended school at St. Michael Little Flower School, Devils Lake Public School, and Fours Winds School. Growing up Kenny enjoyed swimming, riding bike, and playing outside with his siblings. In high school he participated in football, baseball, track and boxing. Into his adult life he took up weightlifting, softball and fast pitch baseball. He had his basement set up as a full gym and would work out daily with the music jamming. He loved to listen to 80’s rock music. Kenny was a very outgoing and humorous person with a heart of gold, never hesitating to help anyone out. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, stopping by to visit, watching the Green Bay Packers, and cooking. Kenny was a member of the St. Michael Church and used to drive his mom to church on Sundays and then cook up a good Sunday meal for them.

Kenny was blessed with 8 children and 20 grandchildren- Dakota, Stephen, Brinlee, Ridge, NaKomis, Aubree, Kyler, Lucas, Jocee, Joseph, Jr., Bralyn, Lukas, Bailee, Tylin, Miley, Baby Alfred, Wesley, Zaelyn, Collin, Jr. and Kyston. He loved each one of his kids very much and loved teasing, joking, and singing to them. He always said it was the right time when his grandson Zaelyn came into his life and they had a special bond.

Kenny worked at Sioux Manufacturing Corporation for a total of 30 years. He was a Water Jet Operator. He also worked at Spirit Lake Casino as a Security Guard.

Kenny was truly a one of a kind man. He was always in good spirits, laughing and joking, and would help anyone in need. Kenny was the best dad and grandpa to his kids and grandkids. He will be missed. May he rest in everlasting peace.

Kenny survived by his loving family. His children Kenny Baker, Jr., Elisha (Mitchell) Poulsen, Kyle Lawrence, Joseph (Marnie) Lawrence, Douglas Lawrence Baker, Dedrick GreyBear, Kendra Baker (Alfred Littlewind) and Kenzie Baker. His siblings Nancy (Joe) Sager, Ronald (Verna) Baker, Connie Baker, Pam Baker, Roger Jetty, Bob Baker (Emily Longie), Donna Baker, and Ila Mason; Aunt Gloria Jetty; 20 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Douglas, Dave, and Timmy. Aunts Betty Morin, Genevieve Nash, Beatrice Abrahamson, Doris Morin. Uncle Dave Jetty. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to give a special “Thank You” to Spirit Lake Ambulance and CHI Emergency Room Staff.
