Jeffrey Brown

Jeffrey M. Brown, 57, Bismarck, ND, formerly of Sykeston, ND passed away at CHI St. Alexius in Bismarck, ND on Friday, November 26, 2021.

Jeff was born May 20, 1964, in Carrington, ND to Norman and Carol Brown and grew up on the family farm, the youngest of 4 children with 3 older sisters.  He graduated from Sykeston High School in 1982. Jeff attended McConnell Travel School in Minneapolis, MN and National College of Business in Rapid City, SD.  He was employed by Air Midwest in Liberal Kansas.  After this he returned to Fargo and worked for Fireside Office Products until his illness in 1992.

After his illness, Jeff resided in Bismarck living independently and working as a custodian at St. Mary’s Church until his health declined at which time he resided at Primrose assisted living.

Family and friends will miss Jeff terribly. Jeff had a profound gift for seeing the humor in life even in trying times. We knew Jeff for his fun-loving nature, kindness, and generosity with a big smile, huge heart, and a willingness to help anyone and everyone. Jeff could brighten anyone’s day with his presence. Jeff was known for his infectious personality and was able to make friends wherever he went.

Jeff enjoyed spending time with family and friends and teasing his nieces and nephews, most times being the instigator.  Jeff was a prankster and loved to play practical jokes.  Jeff enjoyed doing word search puzzles and jigsaw puzzles, playing bingo, lottery tickets and eTab machines as well as playing SkipBo with family and friends. Jeff loved to ride his trikes, making friends along the way. Jeff had a passion for his flower gardens during the summer months. Jeff was a die-hard Vikings fan and enjoyed watching football.

Through his challenges and battles of life experiences and health issues, Jeff truly lived his life to the fullest with the desire to never give up. Jeff was admired for his positive attitude and never complained. Great memories of Jeff will always leave laughter in our hearts and smiles on our face.

Jeff is survived by 3 sisters, Julie (Jim) Ehni, New Rockford, ND; Jane (Joe) Tesch, Bismarck, ND, and Jodi (Kevin) Larson of Fargo, ND; 2 nieces, Janna Buchholtz and Kadee Larson, and 2 nephews, Jason Ehni and Matt (Katie) Larson and 3 great nieces, Bria and Kyah Buchholtz and Madison Larson; and very special friend Stef.

Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Carol Brown, and stepdad, John Manley.

Jeff’s Visitation will be Wednesday, December 1, 2021, from 10:00AM-11:00AM followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00AM all at Evans Funeral Home, Carrington.

His Burial will be at the St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Cemetery, Sykeston, ND.

  3. My heart just hurts hearing of Jeff’s passing. We had so many good times in HS. From our eating contests at lunch to laughing at his great sense of humor. It was always so nice to see him at Christmas Mass when he would come back home to see his family. Heaven gained a special person. With all he went through here on Earth, I am almost sure he went straight into Jesus’ arms.

  12. Brown family have my deepest sympathy! I visited with Jeff several times at Dans super value and a few times at his house. Definitely had a great attitude and one heck of a sense of humor. Never seen him in a bad mood and always humorous regardless of what he had to deal with in life. We will miss him for sure.

  13. My wife and I were lucky enough to meet Jeff a few years ago. His sense of humor was the best. Although he liked to cheat at SkipBo, ;-), we still loved playing with him. He brought my family a lot of joy. I always enjoyed seeing his funny t-shirts as well. The world lost a great man. Rest in peace Jeff.

  14. Jane & family,
So very sorry to hear about Jeff. I was just thinking about him a week ago. Jeff was such a caring & giving person. We are getting ready to move & I ran across a stuffed little bunny he gave me many Easter’s ago. He would often bring us McMuffins from McDonalds on his way to work.
He enjoyed visiting with my youngest daughter when she would come over to the church office to wait for me to get off work. She had such fun with him joking back & forth. He ALWAYS asked about her when I would run into him ever now & again. She thought he was the sweetest person ever.
We always had to be careful especially around April Fool’s Day – we never know what we would find or what we couldn’t find. It was a joy to hear him singing as he was cleaning in the office or the church.
He was a gem! Rest In Peace my friend! Love Mary

  22. Jane and Family,
May God give you comfort and peace during this very sad time. I’m so very sorry for your families’ loss. My prayers are with you all. Jeff was a very special part of our lives at Pinecrest Condos. He was always there to help with projects when he could. He took great pride in helping keep our yard, flowerbeds and common areas looking great. He was a modest person and never asked for recognition of what he had done. He loved to play pranks and was always ready to have a friendly chat with a neighbor, or a passerby. Jane, you were always there to help him out and support his independent living. He was deeply missed when he moved to Primrose. I would see him around and we would have a good visit. Rest In Peace, Jeff!

  27. My condolences to Jeff’s family Jeff was my neighbor for many years and was quite a jokester. Sometimes I would come home and always have a surprise at my door never knowing why Jeff was leaving at my door, most of the time it was a treat other times just a prank! My first memory of meeting Jeff was him singing in his garage he always like to sing or make some kind of noise to make sure I knew he was around couldn’t meet a greater guy!!

  28. We just heard of Jeff’s passing and want to say how sorry we are and pray that each of you will find comfort knowing that our Lord is welcoming him into his Kingdom.
Jeff could always make a person smile or laugh or both. Sometime he had a dry sense of humor and sometimes you couldn’t help but laugh with the things he came up with.
Good kid and great neighbor, as were your whole family!
Miss you all and we think of you often too. Know that you are always welcome at our home.
    May God bless you all!
