She joins her beloved husband Pete (LaVerne), of 70 years, who passed on June 22, 2018. Catherine met and fell in love with Pete when she was 8 years old and Pete 10. Catherine was an avid quilter, hand stitching each one with love and giving them to family and friends. She was artistic, creating beautiful cards and pictures from flowers that she grew and dried.  She loved her vegetable garden, long walks and being outdoors in the sunshine. Catherine hosted numerous family functions and was by far the best cook, creating recipes and improving on those she liked. She worked in the aerospace industry, and later at jobs that brought her pleasure that were related to crafting. After retirement, Catherine joined the Newport Orchid Society in California. She raised orchids and displayed them at shows throughout Orange and Los Angeles Counties, winning many awards.

Pete was a volunteer driver for Meals-On-Wheels and transporting people to appointments. Pete’s career was in construction in North Dakota and California. He was responsible for building hundreds of homes, including some that his family lived in. Pete was a story teller. He didn’t know any strangers, just friends that he hadn’t met.

  1. I had the privilege knowing Catherine from dialysis in Jamestown, What a beautiful person she was. I loved her smile. I was also able to get to know Pete when he would bring Catherine a donut and bow from the staff to enjoy. They were sure a lovely couple and will be greatly missed.
