Anne Copenhaver-Newhouse

“The Brunette,” as her husband Tom called her, fell into her husband’s loving arms as Anne Copenhaver Newhouse, 62, passed away from health issues for the past year on Thursday, February 10, 2022, in Tucson, Arizona.  Tom Newhouse passed away in Tucson, AZ in the month of September 2021.

Anne was born to Stanley and Genevieve (Huss) Copenhaver on July 13, 1959, in Carrington, N.D.  She attended Estabrook County School until the 8th grade and graduated from Carrington High School in 1977.  She attended North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND in 1979 and graduated with a Secretarial Degree.  In 1998, she met the love of her life, Tom Newhouse, they married in Las Vegas in 2002. She and Tom lived in Tucson, AZ with their loveable dogs.   Anne and Tom faithfully came to North Dakota to visit family each summer and would schedule it around class reunions or events in Carrington. This is what Anne enjoyed most in life, getting together with close friends/classmates from Carrington, her family and having fun!  Anne had close Arizona friends; Kim, Sonia, Sarah, Martha, and Laurice, as well as Carrington friends, who will forever have a special place in Anne’s heart. They helped her deal with her illness and the loss of Tom.

Anne was a classy lady, with an exquisite taste for fine dining. She was an amazing sibling and will always have a special place in our hearts as well.

She was preceded in death by her husband Tom.  She is survived by Stanley and Genevieve Copenhaver and siblings: Pat, Carrington; David (Joan), Carrington; Jane (Graham), Reynolds; Mary Jo, Jamestown; Steve (Pam), Sykeston.   She was also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Tuesday, 1:00PM-5:00PM and will continue on Wednesday, 11:00AM-2:00PM all at Evans Funeral Home, Carrington.

Posted Condolences:

  1. To say Anne was classy was an understatement… she carried herself with such grace. My thoughts and prayers to the family. Rest in peace, dear classmate.

  2. Stan, Genny and family. Our hearts are with you at this time. As you can see, we share the grief. Anne was a beautiful girl, Please accept our condolences. Our hugs and prayers are sent to you all.

  3. I was a classmate and friend of Anne’s. I remember her coming back for our 10 year class reunion in a red sequin strapless dress. She shocked all of us because she was always so low key. I believe she was awarded with the “most changed” award that night. I am so sorry that she has left us way too early but now she and Tom will be together again. My condolences go out to all of you.

  4. Being a classmate and distant relative of Anne’s I was always impressed with how classy and put together she was. My thoughts and prayers are with her whole family. Anne you will be missed by all your classmates. At least you and Tom will now be together. God bless!

  5. I so enjoyed knowing Anne and am privileged to have called her a friend and classmate. She had style and class and was so blessed to find Tom. Now they will have the opportunity to dance in heaven. My condolences to the family and to her close friends. She will be missed by all.

  6. The countless coffee chats we shared, all the delicious food, the laughs! You were a wonderful and dear friend. May you be at peace with your love in Heaven, you are forever in my heart.

  7. Sorry for your loss Copenhaver families.

  8. I was a friend and classmate of Anne’s. I always looked forward to visiting with her. Her smile lit up a room. A beautiful lady gone too soon. She will be missed by many.
My condolences to the Copenhaver family.

  9. I was so surprised to see this just now. I was working on getting an updated address for her, since I realized her birthday was coming up, and the address I had for her in Tucson was no longer valid. to say I was surprised when I heard that Tom had died last fall, was an understatement. To now hear that Anne passed away just a few months later is so so heartbreaking. I hope whatever it was that took them, was short and that neither had to suffer very long.
