Caroline Daugherty

On Saturday, February 16th 2019, Caroline Kathryn Daugherty, 84, of Sheyenne North Dakota passed away peacefully surrounded by her husband, daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Born Caroline Kathryn Griffin on August 30th, 1934 (though celebrated on the 31st for many years) to Lloyd and Margaret (Hahn) Griffin. She married Carl Daugherty on September 30, 1955. She spent 38 years as Business Manager at Sheyenne School.

She is remembered fondly for many jars of homemade pickles, strawberry jam, and tomato soup. She enjoyed camping, shopping, playing cards and bingo (Lucky Daugherty).  Her three darling daughters were the joy of her life along with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She will be sung “Sweet Caroline” at many weddings to come.

Caroline was preceeded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Margaret, and her sister, Alice. She is survived by her husband Carl, her darling daughters Lori (Keith) Benoit, Donna Estrem and Robin (Kyle) Forster, her sister Marjorie and grandchildren; Craig (Sarah), Chris (Emily) Cale (Amber) and Casee Benoit, Julie Estrem, Scott (Kaitlyn), Sean (Breanna), Stephanie (Kyle Pederson)Forster and Great Grandchildren; Reier, McKenlee, Luke and two new arrivals shortly.

Visitation:  will be held Thursday, February 21, 2019, noon-7:00PM with a Prayer Service at 7:00PM, at Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford, ND.

Funeral Service:  will be held Friday, February 22, 2019, at 10:30AM in Grandfield Lutheran Church, rural Sheyenne, ND

Burial: will be held at Grandfield Lutheran Cemetery, rural Sheyenne, ND

Through the pics shared, the stories told, the memories thought about you will remember her with loving hearts. May those that surround you all provide comfort, strength, courage and love.   3. My sympathies and prayers to the family. She was one of my favorite patients when I worked in cardiac rehab. She was always cheerful and had many stories to tell. She will be greatly missed by all whose life she touched.

    Thinking of all of you at this difficult time and sending our deepest sympathy. Caroline always had a smile and a laugh. Our memories of Caroline go back to Sheyenne School in the office or lunch line and Grand field Church in Sunday School and choir and many other memories.   9. So sorry to hear of Caroline’s passing she will be sorely missed here at the library, she was not only a voracious reader but was once on the library board. I will think of her every time I get a new Danielle Steel book. My thoughts are with her family.

  12. Carl. My sympathies to you and your family during this sad time. Caroline was my class mate when we began the 1st grade at Oberon Grade School.We were class mates through the second grade. Wonderful memories of a very sweet young girl!!

  14. So sorry to hear of Caroline’s passing. I have wonderful memories of working with her in Sheyenne and I always enjoyed visiting with her after I left. She will be missed and fondly remembered.
