Emmett Dunn, age 30, of Fort Totten, ND died Friday, September 23, 2022 at the Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND.

Emmett Mitchell Dunn was born on January 29, 1992 in Devils Lake, ND, the son of Ted and Alberta Snell.  Emmett received his education in Fort Totten, ND, working at the Spirit Lake Casino & Resort and at Sioux Manufacturing.  His hobbies were playing video games, dice, cards, cruising with his brothers, sisters and friends.  Bonfires were his favorite.  His father’s favorite football player was Emmitt Smith and after having five sons, his mother finally gave in and let him name #6 Emmitt.  Although Emmitt had no children of his own, his pride and joy was his niece, Maliyah White.  He loved all his nephews and nieces with all his heart and they will miss him dearly.

Emmett is survived by his parents, Ted and Alberta Snell of Fort Totten, ND; brothers, Rande Snell (Challsey) Wendell, Ted Jr. and Tyler (Dana) Snell, all of Fort Totten; sisters, Ira Mae Snell of Fort Totten, Leanne (Steven) White of Fort Totten and Rhoda Dunn of Devils Lake, ND; maternal uncles, Dean Terry Dunn of Fort Totten and Maynard Dunn of Minneapolis, MN; maternal aunts, Alfreda Dunn and Coleen Alberts of Fort Totten; paternal aunts, Ginny Cochran, Donna First Raised of Fort Belknap, MT, Arleata Snell of Pawhuska, OK, Mary Ellen Snell of Mescalero, NM; paternal great aunts, Rosemary and Lois Peak of Hays, MT and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

His is preceded in death by his grandparents, George & Ruby Talks Different Snell, Angline Dunn, Mike Johnson; brother Harlan Snell, uncles Chub Snell, Doug Snell, Jim Firemoon and Tyrell Alberts; aunts, Budene Alberts, Bernadette Firemoon and Debbie Snell.

Emmett’s Visitation will be Wednesday, 5:00- 7:00PM, followed by a Prayer Service at 7:00PM, all at Fort Totten Rec. Center, Fort Totten.

A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, September 29, 2022, at 10:00AM at Fort Totten Rec. Center.

His Burial will be at the St. Jerome’s Catholic Cemetery, Fort Totten, ND.

Friends wishing to join the procession from New Rockford to Fort Totten may gather on the St. Jerome’s road, Fort Totten, prior to 4:15PM.

  1. Sending condolences and prayers to Alberta and Ted and all the family during this sad time. Our children are so precious to us. We never expect that they will go on before us. I pray for all of you that God will be your comfort and strength.

  2. Sending my prayers to Ted & Alberta. It’s hard to lose one of our children but what can we do but pray for them to rest in peace.

    Takoja Emmett is with his tahansi my son Melvin now takoja rest in peace and tell Mel Dew I miss everyday
    you two were always helping me when I needed help. I still have that rosary you gave me. I will always treasure it. toksa
