Alan Hegvik, 65, of Glenfield North Dakota died unexpectedly December 8, 2021. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend.

He was born to Alton and Janice (McDonald) Hegvik on May 24, 1956. He was raised in Glenfield with his four siblings; Richard (Patty) of Carrington, North Dakota; Donna (Craig) of Pueblo, Colorado; Sherri (Bruce) of Grand Forks North Dakota; and Mark of Roseau, Minnesota. After high school he attended North Dakota State College of Science and earned a degree in accounting.

Alan married Mary Ann Frappier February 1, 1980 and settled back in Glenfield where they started a family.
Alan was a man that appreciated routine and consistency and was employed by Tough-T Manufacturing in Glenfield, ND for over thirty years.

He loved music immensely and was a pretty great dancer and was even better at air guitar. Al enjoyed sports; especially NCAA march madness, fishing, and was a fan of the Vikings and never gave up hope this year would be different. He really enjoyed simple things like cold beer, black coffee, peanut butter sandwiches, dark chocolate, black licorice and gingersnap cookies. He was someone who had no interest in material things and would never buy anything for himself, and if you gifted him something he would not use it because it was just too nice. With that being said – he had a very unique style and preferred cutoff sleeve shirts and do-rags.

Alan was admired for his genuine kindness, humility, optimism and his unwavering dedication to his family and friends. He had a great sense of humor that helped him cope with the curveballs of life. His absence here on earth will leave an unfillable void in many hearts and lives.

He is survived by his wife Mary and his six children; Natalie (Safwan) and grandchildren Joseph, Jonah, George, and Mairiella of Falmouth, Maine; Nicole (Payden Dronen) and grandchildren Luke, Olivia, Cecelia, Nolan, Saige, and Tate of Steele, North Dakota; Jason and grandchildren Garrett, Aden, and Wyatt of Cooperstown, North Dakota; Veronica (Joey) and grandchildren Amelia, Fiona, Stella, and Charles of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Joshua (Ashley) and grandchildren Cooper and Bennett of Carrington, North Dakota; and Brittany and grandchildren Brooklyn and Hunter of Glenfield, North Dakota.

He is preceded in death by his parents Alton and Janice and nephew Shawn.

His Visitation will be Thursday, December 30, 2021, from 5:00PM-7:00PM followed by a Prayer Service at 7:00PM all at Evans Funeral Home, Carrington.

Alan’s Funeral Service will be held Friday, December 31, 2021, at 10:30AM at Prairie Faith Church, Glenfield, ND.
