Darlene Hungness

Darlene R. Hungness, 73, of New Rockford, ND passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford.

Darlene R. Narveson was born January 1, 1947 at Devils Lake, North Dakota, the daughter of Alvern and Gloria (Kindem) Narveson.  She grew up at Oberon and graduated from Oberon High School in 1965.  She later attended Interstate Business College in Fargo and then worked as a secretary for North Dakota State University in the Home Economics Department for seven years.

She married Paul Hungness on July 8, 1966 at Grandfield Lutheran Church, near Sheyenne, ND.  They made their home in New Rockford where she was employed by Hagen’s Super Value for 27 years.  She entered the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in June of 2019.

Darlene was a member of First Lutheran Church, New Rockford and was a former quilter.  She collected bird houses and glass chickens.  She enjoyed parading in her 1960 Convertible and riding around with Paul.  She wanted to be remembered for being a loving wife, mother, and friend and wanted everyone to be nice to one another.

Darlene is survived by her husband Paul, New Rockford; son Brannon, Rochester, NY; and a brother Roger (Sharon) Narveson, Cando, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be Friday, 9:00AM-7:00PM followed by a Prayer Service at 7:00PM all at Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, February 1, 2020, at 10:30AM at First Lutheran Church, New Rockford, ND.

Burial will be at the Grandfield Lutheran Cemetery, rural Sheyenne, ND.
