Gloria Kathleen Kosse, 94, of Carrington, ND, passed away on March 28, 2021 at Golden Acres Manor, Carrington.

She was born on February 11, 1927 in Edgeley, ND to Harry and Evva (Norman) Peterson. She attended school in Berlin, ND and graduated from Central High in Fargo, ND. Gloria worked for the Internal Revenue Service after high school.

On June 18, 1946, she was united in marriage to Elmer Kosse. They lived in the Dickey-Berlin area for a short time, engaged in farming. They moved to Carrington, ND, which became their forever home.

Family was always Gloria’s main focus and she enjoyed the time spent with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed fishing, spending time at their lake home in Minnesota, winters at their Florida home, camping, golfing, card playing and dancing. She and Elmer could clear any dance floor with their special moves. Gloria also loved to entertain family and friends at their home.

She, along with Elmer, were members of the Elks and the Eagles Club, along with the Carrington Golf Club. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Altar Society and Carrington Study Club.

Along with raising their family, she was an administrative assistant for the Foster County Extension office, ASCS, and the USFWS at Arrowwood Refuge.

Gloria is survived by her children: Diann Cardenas of Cleburne, TX; Linda (Terry) Gisvold of Washburn, ND; Keith (Dori) Kosse of Fargo, ND; grandchildren: Chad (Leslie) Motschenbacher of Tyler, TX; Leah (Mitch) Kuhn of Mandan, ND; Erick (Christina) Gisvold of Mandan, ND; Megan Kosse (Dan Pearson) of Bloomington, MN; Libby (Shaun) Parsons of Fargo, ND; great-grandchildren: Kailey, Luke, Sadie, Kade, Addison, Rowan, and Kayson; sister: June (Jim) Larsen of Fargo, ND; sister-in-laws: Gladys Koke of Santa Clara, CA; Marilyn Kosse of Valley City, ND; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers.

Mom will be so very missed. She was a soft spoken, caring, compassionate and fun-loving lady…You and dad are “dancing” together again. We Love You.

Gloria’s Visitation will be Tuesday, April 6, 9:00AM-6:45PM, family will be present from 5:00PM-6:45PM with a Rosary Service at 6:45PM and Vigil Service at 7:00PM all at Evans Funeral Home, Carrington.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at 10:30AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Carrington.

Her Burial will be at the Carrington Cemetery.

  1. I am sorry to hear of Gloria’s passing. I started my career at the Arrowwood Refuge while Gloria was the Administrative Assistant. She was a wonderful lady! I have seen her at Golden Acres while visiting my Aunt. Gloria still knew who I was and always visited. My Deepest Sympathy.

  3. Gloria showered many kindnesses, laughter and love to our Reiniger family. She and Elmer both bring me wonderful memories of our families sharing many fun times together. Our parents were best of friends with each other. I’m sorry that she needed to leave. Hold your memories and may you feel the love and peace.

  5. I’m sorry to hear about Gloria’s passing. She was a sweet lady we had our visits time to time especially when it came to lunch cart or 3:00 snack. She also had a wonderful family kids grandkids. She was my favorite lady to talk to. I’m gonna miss her very much. My prayers are with you and your families.

  7. I am so sorry to learn of Gloria’s passing and I will miss corresponding with her at Christmas time…..her mother (Evva) and my Mom (Irene) were sisters. After my Mom passed in 2017, Gloria and I continued to keep up with each other. I guess that made us cousins! My heartfelt sympathies and prayers to all of your family.
