Sylvester Littlewind Sr.

Sylvester Littlewind Sr., 62, passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at his home, Fort Totten, ND.

Sylvester Littlewind was born on March 29, 1961 to Mary (Waanatan) Littlewind and Pius Littlewind in Devils Lake, ND.  He grew up in the Crow Hill area as a child, brother to 3 boys and 5 sisters.  His upbringing was mostly in the living a life of a young cowboy.  He traveled with his older brother, Alfred from rodeo to rodeo, always making his home in the Crow Hill area.  He had a horse family that always kept him busy riding the top horses.  At a young age he started at kids rodeos, working his way up to riding bareback, saddle bronc and bull riding.  He was an all-around cowboy.

After his rodeo career, he met Lisa Greywater and they had two sons, Sylvester Jr. and Kell.  He then spent his time raising his sons and working various jobs, including Dakota Tribal Industries (DTI).  He also worked on the farm, driving farm equipment for Gordon Nelson for a number of years.  He started rodeoing with his two sons as they grew older.  He also started coaching them and the rest of the team in sports, like baseball and basketball.  Sylvester loved watching his kids play sports.  In his later years he enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, Laila, Keyson and Kaaliyah.  He was always willing to help anyone he could. He loved helping people out or lending a hand.  Sylvester was a man that loved his family very much.  Especially his two boys and his grandkids.  Sylvester will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

Sylvester is survived by his sons, Sylvester Littlewind Jr. and Kellen Littlewind (Brittney Cook); stepchildren, Elton Sr., Keith Sr., Erica and Felicia Greywater; grandchildren, Keyson, Kaaliyah, Laila, Ashton and Aiden Littlewind; Godson, Lionel Littlewind and sister, Renita (Bud) Shaw.
