Marlene Knatterud

Marlene Ellen Knatterud, 68, of New Rockford, passed away Sunday, February 9th at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Marlene, daughter of Melvin and Stelma (Simonson) Gunderson was born on August 28, 1951 in Harvey.  She was raised in rural Maddock and graduated from Maddock High School in 1969 and attended North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton.

She was united in marriage to Alan Knatterud on June 26, 1970 at Viking Lutheran Church, rural Maddock. They made their home in New Rockford ND.

Along with being a home maker, Marlene worked various jobs in New Rockford, the North Dakota Department of Transportation, and was the bookkeeper for Alan’s Furnace Service.

She loved spending time with the family and she cherished her time with her grandkids. She hated making potato salad, but was asked to make it for every gathering she attended as it was loved by all.

Marlene is survived by her husband of 49 years; daughters Dawn Knatterud of Oxnard, CA, Denise Knatterud of Drayton, ND; son Danny Knatterud of New Rockford, ND;  six grandchildren; sister Emily Fossen of Grand Forks, ND and sister-in-law Gloria Simonson of Franklin, IN.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Sidney.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the Funeral Service on Saturday at Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 11:00AM at Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford.

Burial will be in the spring at the Prairie Home Cemetery, New Rockford, ND.

  4. Emily, I am so sorry to hear about Marlene. It’s always so hard to accept but when it happens unexpectedly it’s just so much harder. Hugs to you and prayers for the family. I’m sure she and your Mom are having a great reunion! Carolyn
