Verle Arnel Marsaa was born on August 12, 1943, the son of Melvin and Minnie Marsaa.   He passed away into the loving arms of his Savior, at the age of 78, on Thursday, March 24, 2022.

Verle attended school in Warwick ND, graduating in May 1961.  Verle married Karen Randle on July 21, 1962 and resided in Devils Lake before moving to New Rockford for 25 years, where their children grew up and attended school.  He worked for various construction companies, Soil Conservation and Ducks Unlimited. Steam Threshers filled his summer and early fall months. The rest of the year, he would be traveling, researching and restoring John Deere tractors and equipment, as well as other brands. Verle passed away while on another adventure, teaching the next generation about antique tractors.   Verle was a member of the Faith Evangelical Church of Crystal Springs, adjunct member of the First Lutheran Church in New Rockford, as well as a member of the numerous Steam Shows across the midwest and Canada.

He is survived by his wife Barbara Perleberg and his four children Kent (Marcee) Marsaa of New Rockford; MaryLou Marsaa (Rick) Nyhusmoen of Bismarck; Michael (Debra) Marsaa of Walcott, ND and Karalee (Robert) Harper of Bismarck; twelve grandchildren,  Dani (Joshua), Joshua, James, Shawn, Krysta (Christopher), Daniel, Dylan (Madie), Koltan, Dakota, Brenna, Tyler and Travis, and six great grandchildren, Jaxon, Samantha, Quinn, Piper, Bryker and Remington;  sister Arlene Holtz of New Rockford, ND; sister-in-law Nita Jean (Johnnie) McKelvey of Warwick, ND;  and brother-in-law Charles (Joan) Randle of Pequot Lakes, MN; and Barbara’s children, Brian (Jeanette), Kelly (Kathy), Tim (Amy) and Jeff (Teresa); 11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

  12. I was so sorry to hear of Verle’s passing, I have not seen him in many years but have known him and his family since I was very young. My parents rented the Marsaa farm from Melvin & Minnie back in the 1950’s when I was about 2 years old. I recently ran into Verle’s daughter Marylou at the clinic in Bismarck where she works, and she recognized me, what a surprise! I will always remember Verle as a very kind man, and a fanatic about threshing machines, I remember that he had the most amazing farm toys when he was young. I know that he is at the most amazing threshing show ever right now and that he is at peace. Goodbye old friend.

  13. I am very sorry to hear of your loss! Verle was always kind and fun to be around when I saw him growing up. A moment I have always remembered him by is when I ran into him outside as he was leaving Krysta’s open house and I was just arriving. Verle reached into his pocket and insisted on giving me some cash he had on him as a graduation gift to me. What an unexpected, thoughtful gesture. May countless wonderful memories help you through this heartbreaking time.
