Ariana Morningstar McKay (Little Sage), age 3, of Devils Lake and Spirit Lake Nation, ND, began her journey home on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at the University of Minnesota Children’s Hospital, Minneapolis, MN, surrounded by her family who loved her with all their hearts.

Ariana McKay was born on December 8, 2018 to Austin Lester and Alona McKay in Devils Lake, ND.  Ariana was a happy baby girl, who always had a smile.  Ariana liked watching Cocomelon.  She enjoyed walking to the park, getting her make up done and hanging out with Lawrence “Charlie”.  Ariana liked taking pictures, drawing, doing TikToks and stuffed animals.  She also enjoyed hanging out with family and listening to her music.

Ariana is survived by her mother Alona McKay, sister Mikayla McKay, aunts Shayleigh McKay, Leighshay McKay, Nadysen McKay, Nayanna McKay, Kaeleigh McKay and Gloriana Greywater, uncles Avery Kirk, Kazsidi Kirk, Owen McKay Jr. and Brendon Doughty, grandparents Owen (Denise) McKay, Sheila McKay, Tim McKay, Mary McDonald, Ginger Rue, Reign Roofwater and Monica McKay, great grandparents Camilla (Arnold) Peltier, Lila Vannett, Branda Peltier, Pat Peltier, Gloria Alberts and Delbert Demarce and many cousins.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents Tim McKay and Raymond Smith and cousin Mason McKay.

Honorary Bearers: All of Ariana’s Family and Family Friends.  A special thank you to the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital for their care of Ariana.  If we forgot anyone, please forgive us as it was not intentional during this difficult time.

Ariana’s Visitation will be Monday, 5:00-7:00PM followed by a Prayer Service at 7:00PM all at the St. Michael Rec. Center, St. Michael, ND.

Friends wishing to join the procession from New Rockford to St. Michael may gather on the St. Jerome’s road, Fort Totten, prior to 4:15PM.

A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at 10:00AM at the St. Michael Rec. Center, St. Michael, ND.

Her Burial will be at the St. Jerome Cemetery, Ft. Totten, ND.
