Beverly Olson

Beverly Olson, age 76, of Sheyenne, ND, died Saturday, October 3, 2020, at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd.

Beverly Ann Hendricks was born May 31, 1944, to Theodore and Anna (Bosch) Hendricks in Manning, ND. She attended school in Manning until the eighth grade. She then attended High School in Killdeer, ND.

Bev was working at the Lunch Box Café, when she met the love of her life, Leland. It was love at first sight, he came into the café and saw Bev and knew that she was the one for him. Beverly and Leland were united in marriage on December 15, 1962 in Baker, MT. Together they were blessed with a son Curtis.

Leland, Beverly and Curtis moved back to Sheyenne, ND; Leland worked in the gravel pit in Sheyenne and Bev stayed home with Curtis. She spent countless hours gardening, canning and working on her flower beds. Bev enjoyed the simple life of rural North Dakota. She was a member of Grandfield Lutheran Church from the day they moved back to Sheyenne.

Beverly loved her family, they came first and foremost. She looked for every reason to stop by Curtis’ house to see her granddaughter Mary Ann, who held a special place in her heart. Later in life, Bev enjoyed playing BINGO and watching the Minnesota Twins play baseball. She chose to live a quiet life, keeping to her family and close friends.

Beverly is survived by her son Curtis Olson (Valerie Comer), Sheyenne, ND, a granddaughter Mary Ann, Sheyenne; a brother Roger (Mary) Hendricks, Anderson, SC; many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Leland; her parents Theodore and Anna Hendricks; two brothers Martin and Kenneth Hendricks; and one sister Loretta Kolar.

Visitation will be Monday, Noon-7:00PM followed by a Prayer Service at 7:00PM all at Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford.

Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at 10:30AM at Grandfield Lutheran Church, rural Sheyenne, ND.

Burial will be at the Grandfield Cemetery, rural Sheyenne, ND.

  3. My first remembrance of Bev is at the Rockford Cafe. She was with Lois Jacobson and I had my little grandson, JD, with me. Bev’s smile in her eyes was the first thing I noticed. She had a sparkle about her. I can only imagine how much you will miss her. I feel certain that her sparkle lives on in all of you, especially her precious granddaughter. I am grateful she shared some of that sparkle with me. My deepest prayers and sympathy to out to you all.

I teased her a little. Told her she was the first girl to kiss me. Like 9 or 10yrs old.
