He went to school in Bismarck for TV repair in the mid 60’s.  Richard owned his own TV repair business most of his life, that he ran out of the back of the Grocery Store in McHenry and then it later moved to the old lumber yard when the grocery store closed.  For his business he would repair TVs, sell TVs, and even install large satellite dishes.  Richard farmed outside of McHenry, raising mainly wheat and soybeans.  He did have a short stint with cattle for a couple years in the early sixties, but decided it was not for him.  Richard was a member of the McHenry City Council, McHenry Fire Department, and Our Saviors Lutheran Church in McHenry, ND.

Richard and Yvonne were avid antique collectors.  They spent many days on the road traveling to many auctions and antique sales across North Dakota.  He loved to collect furniture and glassware.

Richard is survived by a son, Dean (Deedra) Aasand of Carrington; grandchildren, Kyle (Regan) Aasand, Halstad, MN, and Brittney (Ceph) Dockter, Streeter, ND; great grandson, Tilman Dockter, Streeter, ND; sister Marilyn Saint, Carrington, ND; sister-in-law Jan (Mike) McNally, Lisbon, ND, along with many nieces and nephews.
