Donna Schafer

Donna Schafer, age 87, of New Rockford, ND died on Monday, 12:30am, November 7, 2022 at Lutheran Home of the Good Shepard, New Rockford.

Donna Jean Clelland was born July 26, 1935 in New Rockford, ND. She is the daughter of Robert and Mary (Black) Clelland. Donna grew up and attended school in New Rockford. Donna was united in marriage to Albert Schafer on March 1, 1954 at St. John’s Catholic Church in New Rockford. They moved their family to Montana in 1966. Donna was blessed with fourteen children.

While the children were growing up Donna, stayed at home to care for them. She was an avid bowler throughout her life. Donna adored all the camping adventures including fishing and hiking that the family would take through the summer months in the great outdoors. She loved touring new places during her annual family vacation. Donna has 7 siblings, Eldon, Pereley, Delbert, Gloria, Betty, Grace, and Eleanor.

Donna is survived by her children, Albert Schafer Jr., Kenneth Schafer, Betty Mae Sauls, Mary Frederick, Bruce Schafer, Patricia Schafer, Nancy Schafer, Elizabeth Neiffer, Penny Schafer, Thomas Schafer, Janell Volmer and Michael Rudolph. Donna had 21 grandchildren and 34 great – grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by two children, Connie and Matthew, and siblings Gracie, Eldon, Pereley, Delbert, and Betty.

Her humor and laughter will be greatly missed by all.

 

Donna’s Visitation will be Friday, April 28, 2023 from 2:00PM – 3:00PM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial will be at 3:00PM all at St. John’s Catholic Church, New Rockford.

Her Burial will be at the Prairie Home Cemetery, New Rockford.

  1. My sincere sympathy to all Donna’s families. I worked at LHGS and Donna was a wonderful friend besides a wonderful resident. Have many many memories of all good times with her. I hope your memories will help ease the loss. A friend, Linda Lauckner

  2. Miss Donna’s humor. Always had a laugh with her when I saw her at LHGS. She was proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

  4. I remember Aunt Donna well from all the summer visits to New Rockford for Grandma’s birthday

    We lived near the family for one summer in Opportunity, Montana, where I got to know most of the cousins

    I hope she finds peace with her brothers, sisters, and family members who are already in heaven
