Michael Ryan Zink, age 43, of Fargo, ND, passed away on May 18th, 2022, unexpectedly at his home.

Michael was born on April 11, 1979, to Tim and Mary (Davis) Zink in Carrington, ND. After graduating from Carrington High School in 1997, he continued his education at NDSU, earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Resource Management.

In 2005, Michael’s 4th of July started out with a bang with the birth of his daughter, Jenniene. She was his world and the light of his life. He was very proud of the wonderful, hardworking, young lady she had become.

Michael had a love for the outdoors. He enjoyed his time working on the family farm, digging in the dirt on a tractor or in the garden. He also loved being around animals, except for the unfortunate incident with a skunk, while walking through his uncle Mark’s garden.

Although he loved the outdoors, his true passion started at a very young age, collecting sports trading cards. With his obsessive personality, Michael turned that passion into a full-time business, buying and selling cards and other collectibles from his home. His card collection was one that many in the industry would envy.

Those obsessions carried over to his music as well. If he liked your music, he wasn’t going to own one album, he was going to own all of them. Although Michael was fairly reserved, he occasionally liked to cut loose with his mediocre karaoke skills, singing his favorites of Def Leppard, Sweet, and AC/DC.

Michael is survived by his daughter, Jenniene; his parents, Tim and Mary Zink, Carrington, ND; his brother, John Zink, Bismarck, ND; and sister, Abby (Paul) Gudmestad, West Fargo, ND; niece, Brynn Gudmestad; many aunts and uncles; and a small village worth of cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Eugene & Rachel Zink and Leslie & Lillian Davis; aunts; uncles; and cousins.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation to a charity of your choice.

Michael’s Graveside Service will be held for Family and Close Friends on Wednesday, June 1st, 2022 at 11:00AM at the Carrington Cemetery, Carrington.

  10. To the kind and loving family of Michael: Recently Michael and Mary visited me and he told me with great humor the story of being sprayed by the skunk. Michael told many funny stories about growing up on the farm. I am overjoyed at the privilege of spending that time with Michael and Mary, and all of the laughter we shared. May he rest in God’s love.
